Dean Takes The Reins for Career Success
When Dean Hamilton learned to ride as an adventurous 10-year-old, he had no idea his hobby would give him a fair crack of the whip at a dream job working with horses.
Joy's Story
Joy Henderson is 38 and is delighted with her on the job training that she receives from the Scarman Trust in Handsworth.
Phillipa's Story
Phillipa is a supervisor cleaner at a local school, she lives in Northfield with her family.
Kym's Story
Kym is living in Northfield and taking as many courses as she can.
Ted's Story
Edward Rudge (Ted Rudge), age 65 living in Shirley, studied at the University of Birmingham for 6 years to acheive a Bachelor of Philosophy Degree.
Marina's Story
Marina, age 39 lives in Ward End and is going back to education September 06 and hopes eventually to qualify for NSAN.
Keith's Story
Keith Bolding, age 40 lives in Kingshurst says about learning that "It's a life changing experience". His employers got him on the Train to Gain programe and he hasnt looked back.
James' Story
James Ford, age 55 lives in Bartley Green has a "hunger for learning," and for helping others with disabilities.
Helena's Story
Helena, age 76 lives in Museley, although retired she is still on a learning journey studying English and Russian at the local college.
Amanda's Story
Amanda, age 39 lives in Chelmsley Wood, studying Literacy and Numeracy at Solihull College she beleives education is "A blessing in disguise."
Tracey's Story
Tracey, age 36 lives in Rubery - she finished full time education in 1986 but she believes education has help immensely and given her the confidence to hold her own now.
Claudette's Story
Claudette, age 53 lives in Pype Hayes, Claudette was originally education in the Caribbean.
Yawar's Story
Yawar, age 23, living in Sparkshill, is currently studying an Access to Higher Education in Business Studies course he believes that "Every course changes you".
Paul's Story
Paul Henderson, age 48 lives in Ward End. Paul is currently doing a series of catch up courses, whilst working for a voluntary organisation.
Harry's Story
Harry Wade, age 21 studying in Solihull. Harry is planning on doing a Degree in Human Resource Management.
Ashley's Story
Ashley, age 18 lives in Sutton Coldfield. He left school with no qualifications and is now taking English and Maths at Sutton Coldfield Adult Learning Centre.
Sandra's Story
Sandra, age 51 living in Smith's Wood, has just recently passed her Entry Level 2 exam in English, and hopes to go on to do her Entry Level 3.
Dawn's Story
Dawn, age 37, living in Chelmsley Wood, is a very talented flower arranger. She has managed to fit her education in around her hobby.
Ian's Story
Ian, age 39 lives in Chelmsley Wood. Ian had to retire due to ill health but did not let this stop him from enrolling on an English, Maths and IT courses.
Neil's Story
Neil, age 42 lives in Northfield. As ex offender works in voluntary sector and has won an Adult Learners' Award (2005) for his positive approach to learning.
