  • The Society of Chief Librarians
    The Society of Chief Librarians is a professional association made up of the Chief Librarians of each library authority in England, Wales and Northern Ireland.
  • Chartered Institute of Library and Information Professionals
    CILIP is the leading professional body for librarians, information specialists and knowledge managers, with up to 23,000 members working in all sectors, including business and industry, science and technology, further and higher education, schools, local and central government, the health service, the voluntary sector, national and public libraries.
  • The Reading Agency
    The Reading Agency helps libraries develop and maintain new ways of working, share good practice, continue to raise standards and to publicise the excellent work they do.
  • Adding Value - adult learning and extended services

    A new, free publication from NIACE (the National Institute of Adult Continuing Education) funded by the Local Government Association is available to download from the NIACE website.

    Adding Value aims to explore the role of adult learning in the development of extended services and to show how it can support the other services that schools are developing with their communities. It is aimed, firstly, at managers and co-ordinators supporting the development of extended services. Managers and co-ordinators in adult learning and family learning services who wish to work in partnership with schools will also find the publication useful, as will local authority officers supporting the development of extended services in the community.

  • Third Sector Leadership Centre Launch

    Third Sector Leadership Centre Launch

    The Third Sector Leadership Centre is to launch on 31 October 2006. The Leadership Centre has been established by the UK Workforce Hub in partnership with NCVO and acevo. Its objectives are:
    o To ensure easier access to leadership development
    o To promote leadership development

    The launch will promote and celebrate leadership in the third sector, and offer an opportunity to find out more about the Leadership Centre's work. Speakers include:
    o Baroness Diana Warwick Chief Executive, Universities UK
    o Stephen Bubb Chief Executive, acevo
    o Jane Slowey Chief Executive, Foyer Federation
