NavNav came to England from Mauritius especially to access high quality professional cookery training as this does not exist in Mauritius.  His searches for superior training in cookery took him to West Nottinghamshire College where he began his pathway, learning professional cookery.  As English is not Nav’s first language, another of his aims was to get a better understanding of the language, which he has worked extremely hard at and he now speaks and writes English with amazing competence and confidence after just one year.
Nav combines his busy student life with a job at a local restaurant where he has great opportunity to implement his new skills and knowledge as well as having the chance to organise speciality evenings each week.    Nav also finds the time to work on a voluntary basis in a care home kitchen which he sees as a chance of expanding his knowledge in a different area of the catering sector and feels glad he can make a positive contribution to the community.
A hardworking young man who is soon to complete NVQ Level 2 Professional Cookery as well as gaining the Foundation Certificate in Food Safety, we wish him all the success he deserves.

Ashfield Overall Winner, Naveendra Nookanah, was presented with his Key to Your Success Award by presented to Nav by Cllr David Kirkham, Leader of Nottinghamshire County Council and Vice Chair of Ashfield Partnership (LSP) on behalf of West Nottinghamshire College
